Zircon is universally distributed in the crust of Earth. It occurs in igneous rocks, in metamorphic rocks and in sedimentary rocks. Zircon, a corrosion-resistant metal used in nuclear reactors, and such everyday products as deodorants and lamp filaments, is found in sandy deposits around the world. Most zircon comes from Australia and South Africa, though it's also found in Brazil, Russia and the United States, where about 14 million tons of Zircon lie in mineral deposits. Zircon is even found in moon rocks.
Zirconium bonds with sodium, calcium, iron, silicon, titanium, thorium and oxygen to form a number of different zirconiumbearing minerals. All zirconis produced as a co-product of heavy-mineral mining. It is producedin Australia, South Africa, the United States, India, Sierra Leone, SriLanka, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Brazil and Russia. Thezirconiumbearing minerals deposit will be extracted by open pit quarrying or underground mining methods.
Ore is hauled to aslurryingplant consisting of screening and pumping equipment, and then screened and pumped to the floating concentrator using recycled water from the tailings cells. The floating concentrator separates the zircon sands from quartz sand through a series of spiralsand hydroclones. The processing water is recycled through the tailings cells. Removed topsoil is replaced in the reclamation cell where it is contoured and prepared for final tree planting.
Zirconium is a by-product of the mining and processing of the titanium minerals ilmenite and rutile, as well as tin mining. Zircon is the primary source of all hafnium. Zirconium and hafnium are contained in zircon at a ratio of about 50 to 1. Zircon is a co-product or byproduct of the mining and processing of heavy-mineral sands for the titanium minerals ilmenite and rutile or tin minerals. The major end uses of zircon in descending order of quantity are refractories, foundry sand.
There are many types of machinery involved in zirconium mining operation, such as mining unit, crushing plant, grinding mill, screening plant, separation machine, concentrator, and zircon finishing plant and additional heavy-minerals sands separation capacity etc. SBM provides complete ranges of zircon sand crushing and mining equipment for sale, please contact us for more information.
In zircon mining operation, crushing will be the first and integral processing stage.Zircon mineralcrushing can be operated in three steps according to end products requirements: primary crushing, secondary crushing, and tertiary crushing operation. It is crucial to design the crushing circuit layout properly, in order to ensure high effective and smooth production process. Different crushing operations require different types of crushing machine. Here are some popular crushing machines for zircon mineral mining.
Jaw Crusher
Jaw crusher is the world favorite primary crushing machine. Where cost-efficient primary reduction of hard, abrasive materials is concerned, jaw crusher plant will be first choice. Jaw crusher is designed for stationary as well as mobile applications. It has the benefits of large production capacity, big crushing ratio, high performance, low installation and operation cost.
Impact Crusher
The impact crusher uses the energy contained in falling stone, plus the power imparted by the massive impellers. Rock is fed into the breaker falls directly on to the impellers and rotates away from each other, turning up and outward, at speeds from 250 to 1000 rpm depending on the desired size of finished product.
Cone Crusher
Cone crushers feature a unique combination of crusher speed, throw, and cavity design. It offers higher capacity and superior product quality. From limestone to taconite, from ballast production to manufactured sand, and from small portable plants, Zenith cone crushers provide unbeatable performance in secondary, tertiary, and quaternary applications.
Base on decades of years’ R&D experience and thousands of clients’ production experience, SBM updated our tranditional vibrating feeder and developped the TSW series feeder, which can greatly improve the whole production line capacity.
Jaw crusher is mainly used for crushing various ores and large materials with compression strength not more than 320Mpa.
PFW Impact crusher can crush Limestone, feldspar, calcite, talc, barite, earth, clay, kaolin, dolomite, kaolin, gypsum, graphite etc.
SBM has released the K series portable crushing and screening plants, which contain 72 models that fit various crushing work in metal mines, building aggregates and solid waste treatment fields.
