Tuff is a type of rock which is formed from compacted volcanic ash and fragments of material associated with volcanic eruptions. There are a number of different types, with the rock being classified on the basis of what it contains, how large the particles embedded in the rock are, and how it formed. Tuff has limited commercial uses, although it was once used extensively in building and sculpture in some regions because it was so readily available.
When volcanoes erupt, they spew massive amounts of ash, fragments of rock, and other materials into the air. As these materials settle and cool, they form into an assortment of rock varieties, including tuff. This rock commonly forms when volcanic magma is very stiff, allowing air bubbles and pockets to form, and it tends to be extremely porous and very soft; depending on the prevailing conditions, it may have several layers of material, reflecting multiple eruptions.
The tuff rock processing plantproduces high grade tuff material for final applications. The processing operation involves a series of physical and chemical processes. These may occur at any time from excavation of the ore through production of the tuff rock in marketable form.Tuff processing operations may include crushing, screening, grinding, size classification, separation, beneficiation etc.
In tuff rock processing plant, the material will be first fed into different types of crushing machine for size reduction. If required, the crushed materials will be further grinded by grinding mills to produce fine powders, and prepare for following separation operation.

Jaw crusher
The jaw crusher is used at the beginning of the process, i.e. in the primary crushing phase to crush the largest boulders. The portable rock jaw crushers can crush all types of rock, including the hardest granite, brick, concrete and asphalt.
In a jaw crusher, a moving jaw attached to an eccentric shaft compresses the rock against a stationary jaw and the pressure crushes the rock. The grain size achieved with a jaw crusher depends on the distance, or setting, of the lower part of the jaws.
Impact crusher
The small portable impact crushers are used to crush medium-hard rock and softer rock materials like limestone. Impact crushers can be used also to process all recycling materials. The crushing capacities range from 10tph to 80tph.
Gyratory and Cone Crushers
Gyratory and cone crushers are generally used after the jaw crusher for secondary and tertiary crushing. As such, the goal is to produce ballast or fine sand. Gyratory and cone crushers crush all types of rock but not always recycling materials.
